Ozone, a gas in the stratosphere that protects Earth from the sun's UV radiation, is monitored by NASA satellites. Data suggests the ozone layer is changing- tying into the NGSS DCI's of Earth Systems and Earth and Human Activity.

Ozone continues to make headlines. Students can use these resources to explore related information and images, investigate the ozone layer using authentic NASA ozone data, and join NASA’s “ozone watch.” Together, these address component ideas in NGSS DCIs of Earth’s Systems and Earth and Human Activity. Science and Engineering Practices addressed include analyzing and interpreting data and engaging in argument from evidence; Crosscutting Concepts include patterns, cause and effect, stability and change in systems.
